Perfect slopes today |
Round 3 on the slopes! The weather has finally opened up,
and we were treated to an absolutely perfect day full of sunshine, fresh powder and
clear courses. Students made the early journey up the mountain for 9am classes,
with many venturing onto the chair lifts and upgrading to blue courses for the
first time!

Ready to take on the mountain |
The crew have been very impressive, consolidating their skills and
venturing away from the beginners “Magic Carpet” course. Notable mentions must
go to Sarah who managed to hit the green run six times today. Others even
found time to work on their napping abilities.

Nutchey proving he can nap anywhere |
The weariness was evident at morning break, with Adam
demonstrating his ability to sleep anywhere/anytime and Zoe fashioning her own
bed and managing to nap through the middle of the day. The sleeping champions of the day
though were definitely Hedy and Qingyang, who slept through the rocky bus journey. Hedy even managed to remain sleeping, despite falling out of her seat!

Coffee house resident, Bri, at the time of her accident |
Our two
coffee house monitors, Brianna and Anna also had a very productive day sipping
coffees, updating instagram and watching the crew from their bird's eye view vantage point.

Mr Wood & Olivia off to tackle the slopes |
Meanwhile, up on the slopes, Eliza and Olivia become our
latest skiers to be indoctrinated into the “Diamond Black Club”. The
girls were impressive, but also took time out to hang with the majority of the
snowboarders who had just made it for the first time onto the green course.
Riley
and Jess had a spectacular stack on their first attempt to exit the chairlift, but managed to quickly redeem themselves taking on the green run with confidence. The
teamwork and support that the group has shown for one another is commendable, with
many guiding others and stopping to assist friends who had become stuck. It was very warming
to see how the team has banded together over the past week.

Hedy...sleep champion of the trip! |
The afternoon saw the winds pick up, meaning some of the
courses were closed as heavy clouds began to roll over, leading to poor
visibility and gusty conditions. Many students retreated to the coffee house and
began to wrap up their sessions. During the journey home heavy eyelids indicated that day three of skiing had really taken its toll on some.
Tonight students were given a “down” night with many walking into town for hot chocolate (and the free wifi ), whilst others
started prepping for their team trivia song performances. After a week on tour some students found themselves hitting the Vicks and calling it an
early night in attempts to ward off colds. Here's hoping it works as we have some more big days on the mountain ahead!
